The city of Modesto has been a baseball town since as early as 1914, beginning as the Modesto Reds, eventually becoming what is now known as the Modesto Nuts, High ‘A’ Affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. As the Central Valley of California is primarily agricultural, priding themselves on producing an extraordinary amount of our country’s produce, along with 80% of the world’s almonds, 38% of the world’s walnuts, & 99% of the world’s pistachios, the name the “Nuts” was only fitting.

The Nuts provide the community with family fun, community involvement, and America’s favorite past time. This year they celebrate 50 years of partnership with the Chamber of Commerce, working together to serve the greater Modesto area. Aside from baseball, they make it a priority to continually increase how they leave their mark on the community. The Nuts have doubled their community appearances since 2017, work with over 43,479 students in the area through their reading program, host a skills camp for local all-stars who have their own big league dreams for baseball, and donate to over 200 different local charities.

The Nuts recognize that providing a place for a day out at the ballpark is only worth investing in if they do their part to invest in this place that we all call home.

Head on out to John Thurman Field to enjoy the fun! Go Nuts!

The Modesto Minor League Baseball team celebrated 50 Years in business this past March with the Chamber, we look forward to many more years celebrated!
